What this HEIC to JPG converter does

HEIC and HEIF are the default photo formats on many iPhones and iPads. They save space, but they do not open reliably in Windows photo viewers, Android apps, older editors, or many upload forms. This tool converts HEIC and HEIF photos to standard JPG files that work almost everywhere. You can convert one photo or a batch, choose the JPEG quality, and download each result. The conversion runs in your browser, and your photos are never uploaded.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

    1. Add your photos. Drag HEIC or HEIF files onto the box above, or click "Choose HEIC files" to pick them from your device. You can add several photos at once.
    2. Choose a quality. 85% is a good balance for most photos. Use 90-95% for printing or archiving, and 75% or lower when file size matters more than fine detail.
    3. Click Convert to JPG. The first conversion downloads the HEIC decoder (roughly 1-3 MB). Later conversions in the same tab reuse it. A progress bar shows how many photos are finished.
    4. Download your JPGs. Each finished photo gets a Download JPG button. Your original HEIC files are left unchanged.

    Tips for better results

    • Convert the original HEIC file rather than a screenshot or an already-compressed copy.
    • The output does not include EXIF metadata such as camera settings or GPS location. That protects privacy, but it also means some apps will not see the original capture details.
    • JPG does not support transparency. HEIC photos rarely use it, but any transparent areas become white.
    • On iPhone or iPad, Safari may open the converted image instead of saving it. Use the Share menu and choose Save Image.
    • Very large photos use a lot of memory. On a phone, convert large batches in groups of five or ten.

    When to use it

Use this converter when a website rejects a HEIC upload, when you need to send photos to someone on Windows or Android, when you are preparing images for a slide deck or document, or when an older photo editor cannot open HEIC. If you need lossless output, keep the original HEIC as your archive and use the JPG for sharing.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this HEIC to JPG converter free?

Yes. It is free, requires no account, and has no server-side file limit. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Your HEIC files are read and converted on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party.

Does it work on Windows and Android?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. Older phones may be slower with very large photos.

Why did one of my HEIC files fail?

Some HEIC files use uncommon HEVC profiles or are damaged. Try updating your browser or converting the file with another device. If a file is extremely large, convert it on its own.
